YTT Programs in Bali
Bali is one of the world's top destinations for yoga teacher training (YTT), attracting thousands of students annually from Australia, Europe, and North America. The island offers over 50 registered yoga schools running 200-hour, 300-hour, and 500-hour programs across locations ranging from Ubud's rice paddies to Canggu's surf coast and Uluwatu's clifftop retreats.
This page organises Bali's YTT programs by format and certification type. Each program page shows participating schools, pricing, curriculum details, and what to expect during training. Click any program type to see the full comparison.
The 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) program is the standard entry point and the most widely offered format in Bali. Prices range from USD 1,500 to 4,500 for a residential program (typically 21 to 28 days), including accommodation, meals, and tuition. This compares favourably to USD 3,000 to 6,000 for equivalent programs in the US or Australia, with the added benefit of training in Bali's natural environment, which many students describe as transformative for their practice.
Yoga Alliance registration is the key credential to verify. Schools offering RYS (Registered Yoga School) status through Yoga Alliance allow graduates to register as RYT-200 or RYT-500, which is the globally recognised standard for teaching yoga professionally. Not all Bali schools hold current Yoga Alliance registration, and we flag this status on each school's detail page. Always verify directly on the Yoga Alliance website before enrolling.
Program formats vary significantly. Intensive residential programs run 21 to 28 consecutive days with structured daily schedules starting at 6 AM. These suit students who can commit to a full month in Bali. Part-time and modular formats spread the training over weekends or multiple shorter retreats, suiting residents or long-stay visitors. Some schools offer hybrid models combining in-person intensives with online pre-study modules.
Curriculum content also varies between schools. Vinyasa and Hatha are the most common base styles. Ashtanga-focused programs follow a more traditional and physically demanding approach. Yin yoga, aerial yoga, and specialised programs (prenatal, trauma-informed, children's yoga) are available at select schools. Multi-style programs that cover two or three approaches give graduates the broadest teaching foundation.
Beyond the 200-hour, advanced 300-hour and complete 500-hour programs deepen the practice and teaching methodology. These are typically undertaken by graduates who want to develop a professional teaching career rather than a personal practice.
Accommodation varies dramatically between schools. Some include shared dormitory rooms in the tuition price, while others offer private rooms at an additional cost or require students to arrange their own accommodation nearby. Meal plans also differ: most residential programs include vegetarian meals, but dietary requirements like vegan, gluten-free, or halal may not be standard. Check the inclusions carefully when comparing headline prices between schools, as accommodation and food represent a significant portion of your total YTT spend.
Certification recognition matters if you plan to teach professionally. Confirm that the school is Yoga Alliance registered and that graduates receive a certificate under the school's RYS (Registered Yoga School) number. Most reputable Bali schools are RYS 200 or RYS 300 registered. Browse the program categories below to compare curricula, prices, and school details.
